Cultural diplomacy between the Arab world and Italy
Cultural diplomacy between the Arab world and Italy
With Prof. Rania Yehia, Ex Director of the Egyptian Academy in Rome
What can art do that traditional diplomacy cannot? We will explore this question on Friday, 9 October at 4:00 PM with Dr. Rania Yehia, Ex Director of the Egyptian Academy in Rome, musician and art critic. In her view, “culture is the driving force behind dialogue.” We will begin with contemporary Cairo, exploring its museums, artists, and emerging creative scenes, before broadening our perspective to the art and voices of today’s Arab world. We will then turn to a surprisingly Egyptian Rome: a city of obelisks, the cult of Isis, and traces of a dialogue between Egypt and Italy that has continued for more than two thousand years. An opportunity to discover a relationship between Egypt and Italy that art has narrated for over two millennia - and that continues to evolve today.
Where: Room G.242, second floor, Lanzone 14 Building, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan. Entrance from Largo Gemelli 1 or Via Lanzone 30.
The event is free and open to the public. Please confirm your attendance by emailing info@acimilan.com.
